Shooting – “The Masters” for The Daily Telegraph

Steven Fisher on a video short called “The Masters” featuring Master Distiller Jim McEwan as part of a series highlighting great UK craftsmen for ‘The Daily Telegraph’, Britain’s highest circulation broadsheet newspaper.

Steven and partner Shiraz Ksaiba have material for four short films, some of which have been published others with others still being produced.

Steven says that the idea is to portray a little of the philosophy of the craftsman, to try and catch of little of the ethos that drives these dedicated artists as they strive to achieve perfection.  The videos feature Roger Smith, one of the  world’s few bespoke watchmakers who learned his craft as an apprentice to the great  George Daniels.  Daniels built an extraordinary skillset that was probably unique, but his approach resulted in his completing just eight watches in his entire life

The series also features Mark Darbyshire, framemaker to great British artists, Mssrs Mapplethorpe, Taylor-Wood, Hirst, Emin, Jarman, Gormley et al.   Another episode showcases the craftsmem who build the wooden interiors of Bentley motorcars.
