The Courtyard

The courtyard is the hub of this busy distillery: you might see Grant McLellan and the boys from the warehouses transporting casks, James Brown delivering his spring water from Octomore farm, Mary and the Laddie Shop staff taking visitors on tours, Production Director Allan Logan, or Adam Hannett Head Distiller, crossing to catch a word with someone, and all the engineers, stillmen, mashmen, bottlers and people who make Bruichladdich work.

Built in 1881, Bruichladdich was a state of the art distillery, designed so that each part of the whisky cycle occurs in a separate building around this central courtyard.

Anticlockwise from the flagpole, we have barley storage, milling, mashing, fermenting, distilling, filling, bottling and warehousing.
