What is festival?
Bruichladdich’s festival day is part of Fèis Ìle – the Islay festival of music and whisky – taking place every year at the end of May into early June. It is a celebration of whisky, of Islay, and brings together people from all around the world. The 2022 festival kicks off on Friday May 27th and runs until Saturday 4th June. Bruichladdich Distillery will be hosting our festival day, Rock’ndaal, on Sunday 29th May 2022. Get ready to rock out!
When is Bruichladdich Distillery’s festival day?
Bruichladdich Distillery’s festival day, Rock’ndaal, is happening on Sunday 29th May 2022 and will be a ticketed event for people who wish to join us in the courtyard on Islay. We’re excited to be opening the gates for festival for the first time since 2019 and celebrating with our community on Islay and from around the world! We will also be hosting festival day virtually and will be communicating more details on how to join us at the beginning of May.
Will the festival be in-person this year?
Yes. We are excited to be opening the distillery gates for festival for the first time since 2019 and being able to celebrate with you in person. If you hold a Masterclass ticket (ballot now closed) this includes access to the Masterclass, the full day of events and our exclusive festival releases. General admission tickets include access to the distillery courtyard where you can experience music, whisky and purchase our exclusive releases and festival merchandise.
We will also be hosting live action and exclusive content from our distillery studio, so if you can’t be with us in person, you can still celebrate with us online. Full instructions on how to join us virtually will be shared at the beginning of May via email, our website and our social channels.
Is there a digital festival this year?
Yes. Don’t worry if you are not able to travel to Islay to see us this year – we will still be streaming all the action from the day online as well as hosting an exclusive programme of events for our virtual attendees! No matter where you are in the world, you can join us on the day. We’re excited to see you there and celebrate with people near and far. More information on how you can join us virtually will be shared via email as well as on our website and social channels at the beginning of May.
What is Rock’ndaal?
Rock’ndaal is the name of Bruichladdich Distillery’s festival day and music festival, marking the first in-person Fèis Ìle celebration for three years. Situated on the banks of Loch Indaal, we couldn’t think of a more appropriate name to mark us being able to finally rock by the Loch together.
What is happening on festival day?
We will be releasing more details of the programme for the day, in the courtyard and online, in the coming weeks. Sign up to our newsletter to make sure you don’t miss a beat. We will update subscribers with more information on our day’s events, from our exclusive acts to our special festival releases.
How do I join the festival event?
We’re excited to be hosting our festival day in person at the distillery and online this year. If you want to join us in the courtyard, you will be able to buy a Fèis Ìle 2022 Day Ticket now via this page. To join us virtually, look out for information on how to access via email, on our website and through our social channels at the beginning of May. If you are not already subscribed to our newsletter, you can easily sign up here.
All adult tickets includes a festival wristband, reusable cup and a dram of our Islay single malt or The Botanist Gin. Under 18s go free but will still need a day ticket. Under 18s tickets do not include wristbands, the cup or a dram.
If I am on Islay, can I join the festival at the distillery?
Yes, but you will need to purchase a ticket in advance to access the distillery grounds on the day. This ensures that we can control numbers and operate the event safely.
I am planning on joining you digitally. Do I need to buy a ticket?
You only need to purchase a day ticket if you want to join us in person. We will release details on how to join us for our virtual programme of events soon. Online entry to our virtual festival is free of charge and will kick off with Head Distiller Adam’s Masterclass, live from Warehouse 12.
What festival bottles are you releasing this year?
We will be announcing our festival releases nearer to festival day so watch this space! Masterclass attendees (ballot now closed) will be offered the chance to purchase the exclusive releases in advance but they will also be available to buy in the courtyard on the day. Our exclusive releases are offered on a first come, first served basis on festival day and will be limited to two bottles maximum per person, per release. If you’re planning to join us digitally, you will be able to enter a ballot for an opportunity to purchase our festival releases. The ballot will open on festival day, on 29th May 2022, and will close on 1st June 2022.
How do I purchase the limited releases?
Our exclusive festival single malt releases will be available to purchase in the courtyard on festival day (on a first come, first served, basis) and will be limited to two bottles of each release per person. If you are unable to join us in the celebrations on Islay, you will be able to enter a ballot for an opportunity to purchase which will open on 29th May 2022. A limited number of our festival bottles will be made available online and will only be available through the ballot.
When does the ballot open for the festival releases?
The opening of the ballot will be announced on festival day itself, 29th May 2022 and will close at 12:00 BST on 1st June 2022. Details of the two releases will be revealed in advance of festival day.
Why do I need to create an online hub account?
Our special festival releases will be made available online via a ballot, for a chance to secure an opportunity to purchase. This gives our community globally an equal chance to buy a limited number of festival bottles available. Our ballots are hosted on a dedicated and secure platform to allow us to manage the entry, draw and payment process. You can register at https://community.bruichladdichdistillery.com and once you have validated your account, will be able to access the online hub straight away. If you registered for an account during last year’s festival celebrations, you can use the same details to log back in. Don’t worry if you have forgotten your login details, it is easy to request a password reset. The ballot for the our festival single malt releases will not go live until the day of our festival celebrations, Sunday 29th May 2022 and will close at 12:00 BST on Wednesday 1st June 2022.
Why are the festival bottles sold online via a ballot?
Ballots offer a unique opportunity to purchase some of Bruichladdich Distillery’s most limited releases. For Fèis Ìle, this means that we are able to offer a limited number of our exclusive festival releases to people who are not able to join us in the courtyard on Islay but definitely want to be part of the celebrations. For more information on the ballot process please see How do the ballots work?
When will I know if I have been successful in the ballot for festival releases?
The ballot for the exclusive festival releases opens on 29th May 2022 and runs for 4 days, closing at 12:00 BST on 1st June 2022. After this time, winners will be drawn at random and confirmed by email. Orders will be operated and fulfilled by Mail Marketing (UK) Limited and subject to standard shipping timescales by delivery destination. Please see How long will delivery take? for further information.
Any entrants who are not successful in the ballot will have their pre-payment refunded to their card.
How do the ballots work?
Ballot Process:
A ballot offers everyone an equal opportunity to purchase a limited quantity product via a specific process. For ballot releases, a maximum quantity of bottles can be ordered per person which will be made clear during the entry process. There is no limit to the number of individual entrants per household. Ballots offer a unique opportunity to purchase some of Bruichladdich Distillery’s most limited releases. As such, these purchases are distinct from other purchases from the Laddie Shop (or The Botanist website) and cannot be combined with other orders or transactions.
Ballot Payments:
Entrants taking up the opportunity to purchase by ballot must pre-authorise the transaction in case their entry is successful, by providing valid payment card details as part of their entry on a secure platform. The pre-authorisation will remain valid for a maximum of 7 days, during which time the ballot will close, and the successful entries will have been drawn and confirmed. There will be no charge made to the payment card prior to the ballot being drawn but entrants must ensure that there are sufficient funds in their account and that the card will still be in date at the point the payment is taken. Successful entrants will be notified by email confirming that they have been successful. At that point, the funds will be taken from the relevant payment card and the bottle(s) shipped to their nominated shipping address.
Can I purchase the festival bottles from the Laddie Shop on Islay?
We will be offering the opportunity to purchase our exclusive releases at a designated location in the distillery courtyard on festival day on a first come, first served basis. The Laddie Shop will also be open on Sunday 29th May 2022 to browse and purchase other Bruichladdich Distillery releases and merchandise.
Can I buy the festival releases online?
A limited number of our festival bottles will be made available online and will only be available through a ballot. The ballot will open on festival day and can be entered through our festival online hub: https://community.bruichladdichdistillery.com.
If you registered for an account during last year’s festival celebrations, you can use the same details to log back in. Don’t worry if you have forgotten your login details, it is easy to request a password reset. If you do not already have an account, simply register and validate your account and you’ll be able to access the hub for a chance to purchase.
Can I buy festival merchandise online?
