We held our second Tweet Tasting (LaddieTT2) on Wednesday October 2nd, hosted by Steve Rush @TheWhiskyWire. There were twenty five lucky recipients of four 20cl bottles that we labeled Dram One to Dram Four. The tasting was only ‘semi-blind’ though, as we told people that these were four of the nine new releases that Bruichladdich have launched this year, and as all of the bottles carried the alc/vol statement, one of which was 57%, it did not require Hercule Poirot to work out what it was…
The four drams were opened, one every half hour, with the tasters tweeting their impressions, many of which were extremely perceptive with many more being truly hilarious. We revealed the identities of the bottles as we went along, being Scottish Barley, the Classic Laddie, Islay Barley 2009, Port Charlotte Scottish Barley and Octomore 6.1
The tweets came thick and fast, with #LaddieTT2 trending to at least number 2 in the UK, with rumours of an even higher position at one point. The metrics look impressive, and we have added a graphic that ‘proves’ this, although we should always bear Benjamin Disraeli’s (or was it Mark Twain) trueism in mind: “There are three kinds of lies, lies, damned lies, and statistics.”
Many thanks to all who contributed by either posting or simply tuning in to the craic. We are looking forward to #LaddieTT3 already.
