B Corp beer collaboration

IN

Born out of shared values and a progressive mindset as well as love for the whisky sour cocktail and beer, the new limited edition barrel-aged whisky sour beer is a true demonstration of a ‘new-age drink’, where quality, creativity and innovation can be achieved with sustainability at the heart.

The beer was brewed in Portobello, Edinburgh, using a mixed fermentation base sour and barrel-aged in our casks for nine months to infuse it with the iconic character of Bruichladdich’s unpeated Islay single malt. The casks previously contained whisky from 2014 to 2021 that went on to produce the Classic Laddie. The casks add a depth of flavour, providing delicate notes of sweet oak and barley. The addition of hand-picked lemon balm foraged locally from Islay, and Scottish heather honey creates a perfect balance of tart acidity and smoky-sweetness.

In a combined effort to strive for a better future, this collaboration will provide more than 3 million litres of clean water to communities around the world through Brewgooder’s ‘Billion Pint Pledge’ which aims to produce one billion pints of clean water in the next three years. The initiative in partnership with Charity: Water – an organisation committed to solving the global water crisis in our lifetime – is set to tangibly support projects in 22 countries where reliable nationwide access to clean water continues to be a challenge.

Alan Mahon, Brewgooder Founder said “This is the beer we are most proud of. Not only is it an innovative and delicious product, it is a true demonstration of what is possible when three Scottish brands come together to deliver a world class beer with a worldwide impact.”

Richard Wardrop Head of Marketing at Vault City continues “We feel this is the most interesting and rewarding beer to come out of Scotland for a long, long time and hope that it will be enjoyed by many.”

Douglas Taylor, CEO of the Bruichladdich Distillery Company commented: “When the team at Vault City and Brewgooder came to us with the idea of this sour beer we were immediately taken with the concept. As our first partnership with a brewery and a fellow B Corp, this is a unique collaboration between progressive Scottish brands who believe their impact can go beyond simply making flavourful drinks.”
