New Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2009 Released

The latest edition in our Bruichladdich Islay Barley series of uber-provenance single malt whiskies is now available from the Laddieshop.  It is has also been released to markets around the world, but  the timing of its arrival on shelves in different countries will inevitably vary.

This Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2009 vintage was distilled from relatively small parcels of grain grown on four islay Farms in 2008;  by Gilbie McCormick of Claggan, Hunter Jackson at Cruach, Ian McKerrell of Island and Alastair Torrance from Mulindry.

These four farms are grouped centrally on the island. Geologically they are very distinct from the wild western maritime location that provided the grain for our 2007 release from Rockside.

The differences are fascinating. Terroir matters.
