Bruichladdich Distillery was delighted to receive a visit from the The Applecross Boatpull Team this morning. The Applecross Boatpull Team are a group of fundraisers who have previously pushed their mock lifeboat, named A’chomraich, 650 miles throughout the Scottish Highlands and Islands raising in excess of £175k for Portree, Oban, Stornoway, Kyle, Lochinver and Wick Lifeboat Stations, as well as for CHAS and the Highland Hospice.
This year the team plan to push it 50 miles around Islay. The ten members of the team will relay in groups of four, covering around 18 miles each day. Thanking their main sponsor ‘Scottish Sea Farms’ who funded the trip, team member Alfie Edwards said: “This money really helps us get the event off to a flying start. With our expenses covered we can concentrate on raising money for the charities.”
Rory Conn, Commercial Sales Manager, Scottish Sea Farms, said: “The Boatpull has become something of an institution over the past 13 years and it is great that our Heart of The Community fund can assist the team in their fundraising efforts. We hope lots of people will turn out to cheer the guys on.”
The charities set to benefit from this year’s event are Islay and Portree Lifeboat Stations, Highland Hospice and CHAS.
