Jim McEwan tasting in Glasgow

Our friend Fraser Shaw was a sublimely gifted musician from Bruichladdich who passed away in May 2015 after losing his battle with an aggressive variant of multiple sclerosis.

Originally from Glasgow, Fraser studied in Sabhail Mór Ostaig on Skye before moving to Bruichladdich and working in the Port Charlotte Hotel – where he would lead epic sessions featuring traditional Scottish and Irish tunes on his beloved pipes and whistles.

The Fraser Shaw Trust has been set up to raise funds for MS charities by celebrating his musical legacy, including festivals, concerts, recordings and a tune book.

To support the work of the Trust, Bruichladdich master distiller Jim McEwan, who retired in July of last year, is to give a very special tasting at Sloan’s Bar and Restaurant in Glasgow on Thursday 4th February.

Jim McEwan tasting event will entail the tasting of some fine drams, entertainment from top class musicians, many of Jim’s legendary stories and doubtless some fascinating insights from his fifty two years in the spirits business.

All profits raised will go towards MS charities.

Tickets are available from Ticket Scotland at £25 per person.
