Bruichladdich and The Botanist will be supporting the Silvers Marine Scottish Series of yacht races once again this year. Based out of East Loch Tarbert just across the water from us on Kintyre, this exciting weekend of competition is one of the premier events in the Scottish sailing calendar.
One hundred and eleven yachts will be leaving the picturesque harbour in a frantic racing schedule, with top Scottish sailors and a strong showing from both English and Irish boats.
The forecast, which is for light winds and lots of sunshine, promises quite a spectacle. The organisers are promising video coverage from both drones and go-Pro cameras around the fleet, which should be great to watch. We are hoping to bring you video highlights daily, so please check out our social media feeds…
There will also be tracking on the one design fleet which will enable much discussion about tactics for the yacht racing geeks.
There will be a photography competition, sponsored by The Botanist, the first and only Islay Dry Gin.
We may well be having our our own, alternative Twitter photo competition as well. For those of us who unfortunately don’t own a yacht and are not lucky enough to be racing this weekend… We need to think of a theme. Follow us on Twitter to find out more….
The Scottish Series started back in 1973 to mark the 75th anniversary of the Clyde Cruising Club.
The event is run by volunteer helpers of the Clyde Cruising Club, Royal Scottish Motor Yacht Club and Tarbert Loch Fyne Yacht Club
