Laddies support High School Breakfast Club

We are pleased to have been able to help with the funding of a popular ‘Breakfast Club’ for pupils at Islay High School.  Twice a week (on Tuesdays and Thursdays) volunteers from the teaching staff are on hand to provide a simple but healthy and nutritious selection of cereals and cereal bars, fruit and fruit juices plus teas and coffees to those that feel the need.

The Club has become quite a social centre and is being regularly used by around 50 of the pupils at the school – who are looking for a nourishing top up prior to heading into lessons.  Open to everyone, it is proving particularly popular with those who have to travel from Jura, a long overseas journey that definitely deserves a second breakfast.

There are lots of benefits of course.  Feeling hungry is rubbish for concentration levels, promotes much fidgeting and staring out of windows, and can result in noizy rummmbling tums that are a distraction to all within earshot.  We can’t have that…  Glad to help…
