The
Distillery's History
The birth of the distillery is down to one inspirational character, William
Harvey, who had the foresight to see the prominence of Islay for distilling.
Over the 125 years or so, there have been ups and downs - fires, closure,
droughts, reopenings etc. here you can follow the progress in the roller coaster
ride that is Bruichladdich, though much of the original historic documentation
has been destroyed.
Bruichladdich
Distillery from the North East. Note the ostentatious house of the owner -
William Harvey - as tall as the kiln!
The Harvey's house, the imposing
construction, burnt down in the thirties. The filling store and MD's office are
all that remain of that original building.
