A CD of this and other songs written by Robin and
other folk will be available shortly.
ROBIN LAING is a songwriter and interpreter
of traditional Scottish songs. He has a particular interest in good whisky and
has created a one-man show and a CD on the subject entitled The Angel's Share.
The Edinburgh International Festival Fringe also saw him joining forces with Jim
Malcolm to do a show called Whisky, Women and Song. As a result of this interest
he has amassed a substantial collection of whisky songs and poems, many of which
are in this new anthology.
The whisky Muse combines two of Robin's passions - folk song and whisky - a
powerful combination! When not exploring the purely cultural aspects of whisky,
Robin is sometimes to be found on the Tasting Panel of The Scotch Malt Whisky
Society. It's a difficult job, but someone has to do it!
Originally from Edinburgh, he now lives in rural Lanarkshire and has been a
full-time musician since 1996. He tours extensively both in the UK and overseas,
and has recorded four CDs - Edinburgh Skyline (1989), Walking in Time(1994), The
Angels' Share (1997) and Imaginary Lines (1999) - all released by Greentrax.
