This
map shows where the Bottling Hall is in the Distillery: |
|
Eventually,
after many years, the time will come when having been selected by tasting,
the casks will be withdrawn from their resting places for bottling as
Bruichladdich Islay Single Malt. All Bruichladdich is bottled 100% naturally
being the only Islay whisky to be bottled on the island. Bar one, It is
the only single malt to be bottled at the distillery where it was originally
distilled and matured. Legendary
Master Distiller, Jim McEwan with over forty years of experience, will
select the casks required for bottling exclusively by taste. Sometimes he
will have in mind a recipe of cask types and ages for assembling together
to create the desired flavour profile. Other times he may go free-style and
design something new. |

Four
categories of bottlings are produced offering a wide variety of
Bruichladdich single malt whisky:
Mood Malt created for a specific occasion or mood such as
Aperitif, Contemplative, Digestive or Night Cap.
Multi-Vintage a bottling combining the best attributes of several
different vintages for extra complexity.
Vintage the best casks from a specific vintage determined by barley
harvest quality
Specials our oldest, oddest and rarest casks including one-offs
and limited releases. |

|
The casks are emptied into a vat to marry the various attributes over
several days |
|
Uniquely
in the Scotch whisky circles, pure Islay Spring Water from a near by spring
is added to obtain the correct bottling strength of the whisky - usually
46%. |
|
It
is then filled directly into bottle free from the standard commercial
processes of chill-filtering, homogenization or the addition of colouring -
in order to maximize the natural flavour and texture of the spirit. |
|
Once
bottled, the whisky goes into our packaging and is shipped out to the
customer. |
